Construction stormwater general permit now in effect

Having satisfied all the elements involved in the appeal filed by AGC and partners, the Department of Ecology has announced that the modified Construction Stormwater General Permit is now in effect.

In late 2015, AGC of Washington, Inland Northwest AGC, WACA, ABC and BIAW appealed the Department of Ecology’s construction stormwater general permit and, on March 22, the DOE issued the revised permit that includes several changes sought by the industry groups. The permit went into effect on May 5.

Members of AGC’s Environment Committee, chaired by Carter Rohrbough (Granite), worked with the other industry groups and attorney James Tupper on the appeal.

The changes are to dust control, pH-sampling requirements, engineering-calculation requirements and concrete washout.
