Appeal leads to significant improvements to stormwater permit

AGC and its allies achieved a significant regulatory victory recently.

Last year, the industry group appealed the Department of Ecology’s new construction stormwater general permit and, on March 22, the DOE issued the revised permit that includes several changes sought by the industry groups.

Members of AGC’s Environment Committee, chaired by Carter Rohrbough (Granite), worked with members of AGC Inland Northwest, WACA, ABC, BIAW and attorney James Tupper on the appeal.

The changes are to dust control, pH-sampling requirements, engineering-calculation requirements and concrete washout.

The permit modification will be effective on May 5, 2017, and expires on December 31, 2020.
