Penny Schmitt is originally from New York and moved to Seattle when her employer Uniguard Insurance transferred her out here. She worked for Uniguard for 31 years. She left Uniguard to open a restaurant in Ballard with her husband Pete. After a couple of years they shut the business down and she went to work for a CPA firm. Several years later she came to work for the AGC and has spent the last five years here.

As the Safety and Labor Relations assistant Penny helps with paperwork billing invoices events and scheduling Safety Team inspections. She also sells banners posters and stickers as well as rents safety videos.

“Penny is an absolute hoot to work with” said Mandi Kime AGC’s Director of Safety. “You can always count on her to bring levity and fun to even the most stressful or busy times! She has a wild streak so you never know what to expect from her (except humor)!”

Penny’s favorite story from working at the AGC is from March of 2008. The AGC Education Foundation puts together a March Madness competition and Penny came in 2nd to last. She had more fun losing than some of the winners did winning.

Penny is a real asset to the AGC. She is knowledgeable of all aspects of AGC and is very responsive to member needs said Doug Peterson AGCs Director of Labor Relations.
