New Name, Signatory Status for Local Granite Branch

On April 1 the Northwest Washington Branch of Granite Northwest Inc. in Everett became the Puget Sound Branch of Granite Construction Company. In another major change the Puget Sound Branch becomes signatory to the Laborers Operating Engineers and Carpenters Union contracts.

According to Steve Harding Business Development Manager for the Branch this will provide more work opportunities for the craft workforce and expand the capabilities of the Branch to pursue larger projects.

In 2001 Granite and Wilder Construction Co. entered into an agreement through which Granite acquired an initial 35% of the employee owned company and continued to accumulate a progressively larger percentage of ownership until November 2008 when a final buyout and merger occurred.
