Interested in Diesel Retrofit Grant?

AGC asks members to complete a short survey regarding a potential federal diesel retrofit grant.

The recently-passed stimulus package includes $300 million to clean up diesel engines nationwide and could result in a grant of more than $1 million for AGC Chapters to distribute to member companies. The grant funding has increased six-fold from fiscal year 2008 and is designed to help construction companies reduce emissions from their fleets.

AGC of Washington is investigating whether or not to put together a grant on behalf of its members for non-road diesel engines and vehicles used in construction. We think by focusing on non-road engines and vehicles versus on-road diesel powered vehicles we will be more competitive.

EPAs diesel funds will cover: up to 100 percent for EPA-verified retrofit technologies (emission filters/catalysts) idle reduction technologies and EPA-certified engine upgrades (kits only); 75 percent for engine repowers (new engine); and 25 percent for all vehicle or equipment replacements. Low interest financing through various sources is available for repowers and equipment replacements.

Money will be awarded in May 2009; those projects that receive funding must be implemented between June 9 2008 and September 30 2010.

To assess whether we can meet the minimum threshold requirement for submitting the grant we need some general information from you. If we qualify more specific information will be requested. The grant application (if any) must be submitted to the regional EPA office by April 28.

Please respond to this questionnaire by no later than close of business on Thursday April 2.
