Isenhart, Gray Honored for Service to the Construction Industry
The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Washington honored Steve Isenhart vice president and owner of Tiger Construction Ltd of Everson as Contractor of the Year and Mac Gray president of Gray Lumber Co. of Tacoma as Affiliate of the Year during its annual convention on January 23rd. AGC also gave special recognition to Van Hardy retired CFO of GLY Construction and the members of the AGC Future Leadership Forums Steering Committee.
Isenhart was named 2008 Contractor of the Year for his contributions to the association including service on the AGC Board of Trustees and as the associations Northern District Representative.
Steve is an invaluable advocate for the industry and the AGC said AGCs 2008 President Steve Barger. He volunteers his time on behalf of the association and is an effective member of our government affairs team. Steve has been instrumental in helping the industry build productive working relationships with Whatcom County policymakers.
Barger also commended Isenhart for increasing the associations membership within Whatcom Skagit and Island Counties.
In addition to his service to the construction industry Isenhart is an active member of the local community. He is a retired volunteer fireman and EMT who served 20 years at the Kendall Fire Station and he has served as a commissioner for the Whatcom County Fire District 14.
Gray was recognized for his support of the AGC Education Foundation. Macs generosity in all aspects of the Foundation is unbelievable said Barger. He truly has taken the Foundations motto to heart - to promote construction careers through education and training. He is always there with his support without hesitation.
Gray is also an actively involved with the AGCs Southern District. Among other things his company is the sponsor of the AGC Southern District Golf Tournaments popular putting green contest. Gray donates all proceeds to the Southern Districts food bank fund.
An AGC member since 1989 Gray Lumber Co. is a family owned business that opened in Tacoma in 1903.
In addition Barger gave special recognition to Hardy who has served in multiple capacities at AGC including completing a three-year term as Secretary/Treasurer of the AGC Board. Hardy has also served as Management Trustee and Secretary of both the Construction Teamsters Health and Welfare Trust and the Carpenters Health and Welfare and Pension Trusts. For 16 years Hardy has chaired the AGC Group Retro program which has returned refunds to participating AGC member firms in excess of $100 million since its inception.
The work of AGC volunteers is a tremendous asset to the chapter said Barger. Van has been an extraordinary volunteer with regard to the amount of time expertise and support he has given AGC over the years.
The founding Steering Committee members of AGCs Future Leadership Forum (FLF) a professional development program for early- and mid-career construction professionals were also recognized for their service by Barger. The FLF Steering Committee members are Chair Kurt Trester of Absher Construction; Brad Kilcup of GLY Construction; Nicole Lamanna of Ferguson Construction; Doug Watt of Northwest Cascade Inc.; and
Sean Woerman of Lydig Construction.
These five young professionals have taken an idea and turned it into a tangible and valuable program said Barger. They have made the Future Leadership Program into a popular organization and set it on a sound foundation.
