Permit Extensions Provide Flexibility to Contractors

In a move that the AGC hopes to see taken by other jurisdictions contractors can now request one 24-month extension on active building permits and other development applications/approvals at the Pierce County Department of Planning and Land Services.

This is an attempt to provide increased flexibility for the construction community during a time when projects may be delayed due to financing concerns or other investment-related issues. AGC supported this change which is part of the Pierce County Economic Stimulus Package that will be discussed further into 2009.

Requests for extensions must be received between Jan. 1 and June 30 2009. Questions should be directed to the County hot line at 253-798-7113.
