Don Grimes, AGC Ed Foundation Officer, Retires from Glacier Northwest

Don Grimes General Sales Manager for Glacier Northwest is retiring. He will be replaced by Greg Mettler who has been Sales Supervisor for Glacier Northwest since 2004. Hes been with the company since 1997.

Don has been an active participant with AGC and particularly with the AGC Education Foundation where he serves as a member of the Executive Committee.

Don believes in the mission of the AGC Education Foundation and demonstrates his continual support by the insight and the wisdom he provides said Elaine Ervin Partner at Moss Adams and Treasurer of the Ed Foundation Board. His dedication to helping others is inspiring.

Don started with Kenmore Pre-Mix in 1983 which was later purchased by the parent company of Glacier Northwest.

Over the years its been fun to witness the changes in technology that have allowed us to provide contractors with solutions to problems they have on job sites Don said. And its been rewarding to work on projects like the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and the floating bridges which required very sophisticated concrete. Its also been rewarding to work with so many outstanding contractors who have used our concrete to change the shape of the skylines of Seattle and Bellevue.

Meanwhile Glacier Northwest customers may have noticed the firm is undergoing a name change -- all of the subsidiary firms of California Portland Cement Company are being re-branded as CalPortland. In announcing the change last July CalPortland President James Repman said the name change unifies the companies behind a single vision with the determination to provide the best possible products services and construction solutions to our customers and stakeholders in the western regions of the United States and Canada.
