Get to Know Your AGC Staff - Tim Attebery

by Sarah Teague

Being fairly new to the AGC most of you probably havent had the chance to meet our Southern District Manager Tim Attebery. Tim is originally from Bremerton Washington. He graduated from Washington State University with a B.A. in Political Science. (He is a very proud Cougar and would like the article to note that the Cougars have won three of the last four Apple Cups and the WSU basketball team has beaten UW seven times in a row.)

In landing the Southern District Manager post Tim was helped by knowing AGCs Seattle District Manager Jerry Dinndorf who had worked with him occasionally while Tim worked for the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties. When asked about working here at the AGC he said I enjoy coming to work everyday and serving the members of the Southern District. In this job you do a little of everything but the main focus is governmental affairs work recruiting new members retaining long-standing members helping produce well-attended events and showing contractors in the region that AGC membership dues is money well-spent.

When asked to tell a funny memory about working at the AGC he said At a monthly Southern District dinner it was revealed via photograph that longtime AGC-socialite Bob Brunke actually got the owner of his favorite restaurant to cut the bar counter space in such a way so that his ample belly could fit better.

Even if you have met him something you might not know about Tim is that he was married in a centuries old castle in Scotland. In addition to that the newly-minted AGC Executive Vice President Dave DHondt refereed some of his high school football games (16 years ago). So the story goes David threw the flag constantly for no reason and the booing could be heard from miles away.

Tims last vacation was spent with his wife in Sedona Arizona and at the Grand Canyon. He said both were incredibly beautiful and the helicopter tour of the canyon was amazing. Outside of work he is very dedicated to two hobbies playing with his 18 month old son and watching football.

So the next time you are down in Tacoma drop by the office and introduce yourself to our new-ish Southern District Manager Tim Attebery.
