AGC Elects New Officers and Board Members
At its Jan. 25 annual meeting AGC of Washington elected its 2013 slate of officers and board members. The officers are:
Butch Brooks
President
Butch Brooks is the owner of Brooks Construction Management which specializes in construction management services preconstruction and value engineering consulting. Butch has worked for two AGC contractors including 26 years with Woodworth and Company Inc. where he joined the firm as a project manager and after various promotions was named President in 2009. He has served in a variety of capacities for AGC of Washington including multiple terms on the board of trustees chairing the government affairs council and serving for nearly two decades on various labor committees and trust funds. In 2005 AGC of Washington honored Butch by naming him “2005 Contractor of the Year.” In addition to his service to AGC Butch is a past president of the Washington Asphalt Pavement Association and has served on the Fife City Council including a year as the Mayor Pro-Tem and serving as the cities representative on the Pierce County Regional Council. After coaching a girl’s fast-pitch team for eight years Butch now enjoys any spare time golfing and fishing. Butch and his wife Barb have two daughters Sarah and Becky.
Joe Simmons
First Vice President
Joseph Simmons is President of Joseph S. Simmons Construction Inc. a general contractor doing work throughout western Washington. After graduating from the University of Washington in Construction Management in 1976 he worked for three AGC-member contractors as an estimator and project manager. Joe then started Joseph S. Simmons Construction in 1985. Joe also owns C/I Properties started in 1986 which owns and manages commercial properties throughout King County. He has been an active member in AGC since 1976. Joe lives in north Seattle with his wife Susan.
Gary Smith
Second Vice President
Gary Smith is President of Lease Crutcher Lewis. A 35-year construction professional he has been with Lewis since 1995. Gary spent 20 years with the Wright Schuchart family of companies. Gary is Property Committee Chair and Board Member for AGC of Washington and serves as a Board Member at the Northwest Construction Consumer Council. Gary was recognized by the AGC of Washington as “Contractor of the Year” in 2012. Gary and his wife Ann live on Capitol Hill and enjoy boating throughout Northwest waters. Gary also serves on the board of the Seattle Aquarium and on the national advisory board for the Green Schoolhouse Series. He is a graduate of the UW Construction Management Program.
Mark Seaman
Secretary/Treasurer
Mark Seaman is the CFO and Secretary Treasurer of Abbott Construction Inc. a general construction company with offices in Seattle Arcadia CA and Lake Oswego OR. After graduating from UC Berkeley Economics 1977 he worked in the San Francisco area for 20 years in real estate finance construction and asset management. He moved to Seattle in 1996 and was a Controller at McDonald Miller before landing at J.R. Abbott Construction Inc. as their CFO in 1998. Mark and a partnership of six other principals purchased J.R. Abbott Construction Inc. in May of 2006. He is an active member of the AGC of Washington and CFMA and lives in Bellevue with his wife Cindy.
Steve Isenhart
Immediate Past President
Steve Isenhart is Co-owner Estimator and Project Manager for Tiger Construction. Steve started the building division for Tiger in 1985. He holds a BS degree in Geophysical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines. Steve is an active AGC member both as a Board member and as a leader of AGC’s Northern District. He is a retired volunteer fireman and EMT who served 20 years at Kendall Fire Station; for ten years he was a Commissioner for Whatcom County Fire District 14. Steve is married to Sharon Isenhart and has two children. His interests include biking boating fishing golfing hiking and skiing.
