Get to Know Your AGC Staff: Lauren Gubbe

As Director of AGC’s Workers’ Comp Group Retro program Lauren Gubbe oversees the Group Retro program and staff works closely with the plan underwriter negotiates back to work services develops training and works with the legislative team for lobbying on workers’ comp issues. She started as the assistant director of the program 15 years ago when there were only 78 companies in the program and now there are over 300!

Lauren was born in Centralia WA and has lived in Washington State all of her life. She width=300attended both Evergreen State College and Northwest University and comes from a family involved in construction – her brother her grandfather and her two grown stepsons all work in different areas of construction. Lauren lives with her husband Paul and her daughter Talia who will be five this year. They also have a Bolognese dog named Lincoln. They love to be outdoors fishing camping and especially golfing. (They just bought Talia her first set of golf clubs!)

The Gubbes also enjoy music: Lauren sings at events writes songs and plays the guitar and has been in several bands (on CD’s) over the years while Paul “runs the sound.” She is currently gearing up for Christmas “gig” with “The Gubbe Girls” (sister-in-law niece and mother-in-law) and is teaching Talia’s class a song they’ll sing at Christmas.

Lauren says her favorite memory while working at AGC is being on the winning team at the Central District golf tournament two years in a row! Her favorite place to vacation is Kauai for the beaches sunsets golf and snorkeling. And her family has an incredible tradition each year for Christmas – they take the money that they would have used to buy each other presents and donate it to their sponsored child and other families in Africa. The money last year purchased a cow several goats chickens and fabric used to make their lives better. She said the best part was getting a letter from her sponsored child saying thank you for all that they have done with the gifts. They have an ornament exchange between family members to celebrate the holiday.

“Lauren’s knowledge of Retro her loyalty to the AGC and AGC members and her drive to succeed has made her unmatched in the Retro arena” said David D’Hondt AGC’s Executive Vice President.
