Sicklesteel took a leadership role in forging the Washington State legislation that required nationally-accredited operator certification certified cranes and nationally-accredited crane certifiers. Sicklesteel participated in every stakeholder meeting and was also a member of the select Stakeholder group which crafted solutions to contentious subject areas in the Washington State crane rule.

Within the AGC of Washington Sicklesteel took a leadership role to develop a crane safety subcommittee as a mechanism for crane issues and regulations to be addressed.
