Lydig Construction has been named one of America’s Safest Companies for 2010 by EHS Today a leading publication for environment health and safety leaders.

Doug Lydig Vice-President in charge of Safety for Lydig Construction was on hand in San Diego to accept the award on behalf of Lydig saying “Our employees make this company what it is and it’s their unwavering commitment to safety that allows for recognitions such as this. Each employee is a vital link in our overall safety program’s success and we all know that if we aren’t safe we will not be in business.”

Lydig Construction continues to be an industry leader in safety with ratings far below the industry average. As a result of Lydig’s outstanding historical safety record the firm is one of a select group of general contractors in the state of Washington who have qualified to be self-insured for worker’s compensation.

To be considered one of America’s Safest Companies organizations demonstrated: support from management and employee involvement; innovative solutions to safety challenges; injury and illness rates lower than the average for their industries; comprehensive training programs; evidence that prevention of incidents is the cornerstone of the safety process; good communica¬tion about the value of safety; and a way to substantiate the benefits of the safety process.

Lydig was one of 12 companies the editors of EHS Today named to the 2010 list of Americas Safest Compa¬nies. Together these companies provide a safe working environment for thousands of employ¬ees. In addition to Lydig this year’s list of America’s Safest Companies includes Adolfson & Peterson Construction Armstrong World Industries Cummins Inc. Dow Corning Corp. Flowserve Corp. Hannay Reels Inc. Jordan Construction Lockheed Martin Corp. Missiles and Fire Control Milliken & Company Safway Services and STP Nuclear Operating Co.
