Get to Know AGC Staff: Chuck Quick
As the Facilities Engineer for the AGC Building Chuck Quick maintains the property’s mechanics coordinates and oversees all contracting work troubleshoots building and property issues maintains suites’ interiors works with the electrical mechanical plumbing HVAC and structural details of the building and property. The AGC property includes three buildings the parking lot and the marina.
Chuck’s favorite moment here at the AGC was the all-staff fun day scavenger hunt event that took place on electric boats on Lake Union. “I wasn’t on the winning team but I had a bunch of fun anyway” was how he remembered the day.
After growing up in Des Moines Iowa he joined the Air Force for four years and worked as a crew chief on rescue helicopters. He then went to Grand View University and Iowa State University graduating with an AA degree. After college he got married and had three children Natalie Angela and John.
Drifting from helicopters Chuck wound up in the plumbing trade for many years. He advanced to Master Plumber and in 1986 moved to Seattle. He continued to work in plumbing as a general manager for twenty years. Hearing about the job opportunity at the AGC building he jumped for the chance to become a facilities engineer. Working hard so the building runs smoothly he said he enjoys his daily job functions as well as all the hiccups that come along unexpectedly. His favorite part of his job is something he never dreamed he would end up doing which is maintaining a marina.
“When the decision was made to bring property management in-house one of the vacancies we had to fill was a new Facility Engineer” said Dick Bristow Director of Properties. “After interviewing a number of high profile candidates the decision was made in November 2008 to go with someone who not only had the skills for the position but someone who appeared to have the same passion for the property that others associated with the AGC Building embraced. To date Chuck has lived up to and exceeded our expectations. In the short period of time he has been employed with us he has been instrumental in helping bring the building to a higher standard of respectability not only with our tenants but visitors to our property as well. As South Lake Union continues to grow in notoriety as the place to be Chuck’s continued contributions will ensure the AGC Building will be one of those places.”
