IMCO General Construction's New Home Keeps it Agile

Congratulations to IMCO General Construction on their move to their beautiful new facilities!
IMCO President Frank Imhof and the rest of the IMCO crew moved to the new location in June and on Aug. 26 the company hosted a grand opening to showcase the new corporate office. More than 300 community members venders clients friends and employees attended the event and enjoyed food drink live music and tours of the new facility that was designed by Heather and John Cashman of Axiom Design Build.
“There are three main themes that are true to the IMCO mission vision and values represented by this move: our future improving efficiency and the wellness of our resources—especially the people who work with us and the other businesses that support the work we do” remarked Imhof at the open house. “This new space is an incredibly productive and effective place to work. It was our intent to provide a more comfortable work environment in order to encourage motivation and pride. The design incorporates flexibility of space and improved technology into both the office and the shop. The new building and shop reflect how IMCO has always been very agile and ready for new opportunities. This new home is a place for IMCO to grow and flourish in the future.”
IMCO’s offices were previously on Meridian Street in Bellingham. The new 8000-square-foot office building is located at 2116 Buchanan Loop near Grandview Road on I-5 north of Ferndale. In addition to the office building the project includes a main shop of 14000 square feet that serves as an equipment maintenance and steel fabrication facility. It has a 10-ton overhead crane with mechanic work pits and lube and recycle facilities for removed fluids. The used oil is reused. The waste oil heater is a boiler that heats the water for the radiant floor heat. A second shop is 12000 square feet and is designed as a storage facility with heated floors work-out (gym) facilities and a secure storage area.
IMCO and Axiom are applying for LEED certification for the project. Environmentally friendly elements include efficient lighting rain-catching features fir flooring and ceilings made from reclaimed wood from a demolished church in Shelton and an entry canopy that was built with salvaged Douglas fir from an old building in Hoquiam and milled in Mt. Vernon.
