Tentative Agreements Reached with OE and Carpenters

The Negotiating Committees for the Operating Engineers and Carpenters report that they have reached tentative agreements with their respective unions.

Operating Engineers

The Operating Engineers completed the final year of a three year agreement on May 31 2010. The contract was open for language wages and benefits. The terms of the tentative agreement reached are:

  • Two year agreement
  • Current wages and fringes will be extended to May 31 2012
  • No changes in contract language
  • Private Works Letter of Understanding was expanded to cover work by the Employer up to $4 million and wages were set at 85% of scale.

Carpenters

The Carpenters are completing the third year of a five year agreement. This year’s negotiations were for wages and fringes only for the final two years of the agreement. The terms of the tentative agreement reached are:

  • Current wages and fringes will be extended to May 31 2012
  • No changes in contract language as negotiations were limited to wages and fringes.

The agreements will now be presented to the rank and file for ratification. It is anticipated that this process will extend into July.

Negotiations with the Laborers Cement Masons and Teamsters will continue this month.
