Recap of Workers' Comp Initiative Deliberations
AGC’s deliberations regarding I-1082 the workers’ comp privatization initiative have stalled a bit pending a webinar on the topic by private insurance groups. The webinar is an important element of the deliberations as it would shed more light on what a three-way (private carriers L&I and self-insured) system would look like. AGC will alert members as soon as this is scheduled. Meanwhile district meetings on the initiative have been held in Bellingham Seattle Tacoma and Yakima; many of AGC’s self-insured members have met to discuss issues pertinent to their situations; members have been encouraged to submit their views in writing (email Rick Slunaker) and many have done so; and AGC’s Retro Committee and Government Affairs Council are reviewing the initiative and will make recommendations to the Board.
