Sicklesteel Cranes Receives National Safety Recognition

Sicklesteel Cranes Inc. received national recognition for its outstanding efforts in safety from AGC of America. Sicklesteel Cranes was awarded AGC’s Construction Safety Excellence Award (SCEA) during the association’s national convention in March. Company President Thom Sicklesteel Regional Operations Manager Ron Bahr and Safety Manager Steve Jouwsma accepted the award.

“There’s no better measure of a company’s commitment to quality than the strength of their safety program” said Doug Pruitt AGC of America’s past-president who announced this year’s winners. “While completing magnificent projects is important protecting hard working employees is essential in this industry.”

The awards recognize companies that have developed and implemented premier safety and loss prevention programs and showcase companies that have achieved continuous improvements and maintenance of their safety and health management systems. Sicklesteel Cranes took first place in its specialty division category. Winners were selected by a panel of five independent safety professionals within the government corporate and insurance industries.

“Sicklesteel Cranes’ national recognition is well deserved” said Mandi Kime safety director for the association’s local chapter AGC of Washington. “Thom Sicklesteel and his company have been promoting safety throughout our state for years. Thom leads the AGC of Washington Crane Safety Task Force and shares his expertise in crane safety helping to improve safety records throughout the industry. Thom has found accomplishment in both improving the safety of the industry as a whole and fostering his own company’s success.”
