Bill Allows Private Organizations to Provide Utility Infrastructure

A bill (SB 6808) allowing private utilities to provide infrastructure needed for economic development received support from AGC. Craig Goodwin of Northwest Cascade is scheduled to testify at a hearing on the bill tomorrow Feb. 3.

“This allowance is an important tool to help realize the full benefit of the Growth Management Act by supporting effective in-fill development within urban growth boundary areas” said AGC Government Affairs Director Rick Slunaker. “Current economic conditions make this idea even more beneficial as public financing of these facilities becomes even more difficult than is usually the case.”

The Senate Committee on Economic Development Trade and Innovation is holding the hearing on SB 6808 which is sponsored by Sens. Kilmer Shin Delvin and Kastama.
