AGC and OSHA Renew Safety Alliance
OSHA Regional Administrator Richard Terrill and AGC Executive Vice President David D’Hondt sign the alliance agreement at the Jan. 7 Safety Forum.
AGC of Washington and OSHA renewed its alliance with OSHA with the signing of an agreement during the Jan. 7 AGC Safety Forum.
“Safety directors don’t often have the opportunity for face-to-face communication with OSHA officials” said AGC Safety Director Mandi Kime. “This alliance originally established in 2003 provides that interaction to the benefit of the contractor and jobsite safety. Plus it allows for improved synergy – AGC’s safety-related services are more comprehensive and OSHA has a forum for better communicating with contractors.”
The terms of the agreement state that among other things Region X OSHA and AGC of Washington will:
• Work together to develop and disseminate training and workplace safety curricula in the areas of fall protection cranes and rigging hearing conservation equipment operation hazards and pandemic influenza;
• Work together on outreach and communication efforts including the sharing of information among OSHA personnel regarding AGC’s best practices or effective approaches and the promotion of AGC members’ participation in OSHA’s cooperative programs such as compliance assistance;
• Work together to promote national dialogue on workplace safety and health by disseminating case studies illustrating the business value of safety and health.
“Very few AGC chapters around the country have similar alliances with OSHA” added Kime. “We believe it is important because it allows us to expand our services to members and makes AGC’s safety programs more valuable to contractors.”
