Green Building Holds Risks, Opportunities for Contractors

In a green building project the contractor has to account for the added risk of not achieving the certifications; overselling of performance by architect; and assuring subcontractor compliance and lack of control over final acquisition of certification. On the other hand if properly done the contractor plays a more vital role in the outcome and constructability analysis and delivery of the project become more important in an integrated project delivery process. These and other points were made by Dr. Ujjval Vyas of the University of Chicago in his provocative Green Buildings Myths Realities Risks and Liabilities presentation to the AGC Future Leadership Forum.
