Add to CalendarEmployment-practices liability: Risk management in today’s construction environment -- beyond jobsite safety
Please plan to join the AGC Northern District breakfast as Lisa Rodriquez of Brown & Riding shares insights on employment-practices liability (EPL) for contractors.
The focus will be on the crucial aspect of liability coverage, specifically tailored to safeguard a contractor's business. Despite Washington State's 'at-will' employment law, organizations inevitably face a spectrum of employment and non-employment claims exposures. These exposures encompass various scenarios, ranging from employee-related issues like wrongful termination and harassment to non-employee-related challenges. The potential financial burden of liability can be overwhelming for any organization, emphasizing the importance of awareness and comprehensive protection.
During this presentation, we will delve into the intricacies of liability coverage, addressing pertinent topics such as the distinctions between general contractors and artisan contractors in terms of employment concepts. Additionally, we will explore the nuanced landscape of EPL concerning an individual's use of marijuana and its implications for EPL policies, including considerations for reasonable ADA accommodation. The session will feature real-life claims examples, EPL statistics and practical insights into risk management and guidance that are tailored to fortify an organization against potential liabilities.
