The Nine Components of Extraordinary Leadership

What is extraordinary leadership? Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “Leadership is an art of getting others to do what you want done as if they want to do it.” To lead successfully, therefore, we must first effectively define the leadership situation and understand and communicate just what needs to be “done.” To get others to get it done as if they want to do it (as in, naturally), we must tap into their natural gifts and motivations and to do this from a place of strength and authenticity as a leader.

Finally, we must guide, inspire, measure and manage purposeful and effective action focused on achieving just what needs to be done. This is the definition of an extraordinary leader; one who leads naturally and authentically to achieve success through the natural talents and motivations of those they lead.
